Mshauri: The Cyberphile's Confidant
A downloadable project for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Mshauri: The Cyberphile's Confidant
What is this about?
Mshauri is a mental health application in a form of a desktop assistant. In the digital age, it is becoming harder and harder to start new projects or creative endeavors due to the overwhelming negative commentary all over the internet. I believe a big part of your reality is what is repeated in front of you.
Mshauri is Swahili for counselor or adviser. This assistant's main goal is to teach the mentee how to be kind towards themselves when other's will not. Whether that be simple quotes to get though the day, or a lengthy conversation to bring personal pain points to light, your mentor will always be happy to guide you to your happier self.
What can it do?
As of writing, there are over 100 quotes the mentor has to keep you company. You may ask for quiet time as the mentor will not say anything within X amount of minutes before talking again. You may also summon and dispel the mentor at any point and time. More is to come. Please check the road map to see what else is in store!
Requirements
The only requirement is having OpenGL 3.3 installed.
How to install
Download the version for your OS and extract. For windows, double click on Mshauri.exe. For linux, double click on Mshauri.x86_64
How to use
After running the executable, double click on the quick menu sigil (Should look like a circular rune-like icon). You may adjust settings for your mentor including quieting the mentor for a time. Keep in mind all timers reset when settings are applied.
How much will this cost me?
Short answer, nothing. Part of the reason this was created was to give people that can't afford therapy some support. You can use this with conjunction with therapy as well, but think of this as another tool in your mental health journey.
This is an open source projectthat anyone can fork and modify for their own needs at anytime. That being said, if there is any version of this application that comes with a fee, then it is not the original. As the creator, I will never ask for a fee to use.
Trust
I have included two PDFs pertaining a more detailed explanation as to why this project was made. If you still find a reason not to trust downloading this project, then don't. Always keep your safety in mind when delving into these projects.
AI Usage
Technically there is AI in this application, but it is the equivalent of DOOM enemy logic compared to the all consuming, all invasive basilisk that we are unfortunately accustomed to. That being said, all quotes that the mentor has are from the creator's mind, experiences, and interactions with other people and media. Code is drawn from my experiences as a programmer and help I gathered from other people or rouge forums (you can check the code out yourself if you want). I do not want to lie to you and say that there is no AI usage due to technicality, but this application will respect your sovereignty.
